Artificial enamel cracks are hardly the stuff that makes a patient’s heart leap with joy. It does not take a dentist to realize that. However, if a damaged anterior tooth shows an existing crack, you as the treating dentist can respond in one of two ways:
- you can either remove the crack completely or
- you visually extend the crack into the restoration.
A video shows you how
A new video shows you how to deal with this challenge successfully. Using the example of a fractured anterior tooth, the video provides you with tips and tricks of how to integrate enamel cracks into anterior restorations aptly to achieve lifelike results using IPS Empress Direct and IPS Empress Direct Color.
You will see that the solution is simpler than you think: Using a straightforward procedure, IPS Empress Direct Color can be applied thinly into an enamel fold between the dentin and enamel layer. Given the intense shade effect of IPS Empress Color, the applied shade will shine through the thin enamel layer, creating a natural effect. Seven different stains enable you to imitate other effects too, such as mottled enamel, to reproduce the characteristics of natural anterior teeth accurately.
